Where Old Maxwell's go to be Reborn

In the middle of what was once farmland below Sacramento, California, and is soon to be a brand spanking new housing tract, is a compact compound of wood-sided buildings comprising the home and workshops of Merle Simonsma.

Merle's name was suggested to me when we purchased the AB. Merle was the 2 cylinder man. A trip to Merle's home was an eye-opener. He was a resource of Maxwell knowledge, expertise and parts. He was generous with his advice. He gave us help in repairing our AB's shot rear end.

The attached photo essay details some of the parts and information that Merle has shared with us.

His current project is a 1909 LD. In the back barn was an 1909 A waiting for work. All it lacks is about three years of labor and a straight-sided tool box.
